today’s look: diamonds in the rough

(more pictures below) Tweet Although I always try to be ‘picture perfect’, I’m no stranger to a healthy dose of self mockery. I’m sharing some of my ‘not-so-pretty’ pictures, for a behind-the-scenes peek. And yes, you may laugh… Unexpected visitors, camera malfunctions, balance issues, gravity, the wind (hair!)… When you photograph a lot, like I do, you tend to get quite a few misfits, or are they diamonds in the rough? I think the unexpected, like in my looks, makes for an interesting scenery. You be the judge…

today’s look: lost in lanvin

(more pictures below) Tweet Another grand love of mine, besides (the art of) fashion, is language, the art of using words, aliterations, and so on… This look is called lost in Lanvin for a reason. The vintage Lanvin jacket is fairly large, I might drown in it… I’m able to wear it as a short dress, which I love, on a pair of shorts or ‘just’ on a pair of tight pants. I love the contrast of the collar of the jacket with the flowiness of the red top. Also the business-feel of the jacket with the structured roses on the clutch. Love contrast! Makes a look so interesting. The structured floral red clutch and satin top are H&M, the floral pants Topshop.

today’s look: happy go lucky

(more pictures below) Tweet This amazing bright yellow jacket that I wore in Paris in March, was calling me for another round. In the area where I live, during this time of spring, there are bright yellow fields of rapeseed everywhere. That’s one of the top 3 things why I love to live here so much, it makes me feel like I’m the richest and luckiest girl in the world. This jacket makes me very happy as well. I chose to wear a bright blue top with it, and my silver flats, a light skinny jeans and a lot of arm candy and some colorful necklaces, vintage and from India. The snakeprint clutch gives this look just a little edge, I don’t want this to become too matchy-matchy or even clownesque…

today’s look: leather & lanvin

(more pictures below) Tweet Not often do I create an outfit without a vintage piece. This look is pretty minimalistic in my world. One necklace (Lanvin x H&M), a simple boyfriend blouse, faux-leather trousers (H&M) and black heels (NLY). Add a large metallic clutch to which I’ve added a studded belt and I’m done!

(vintage) shopping in oldenburg, germany

Tweet For my birthday we went to Oldenburg, Germany. Beforehand I did some research as to where I would like to shop. First we went to Klamotte, a small shop with some nice vintage jewelry, some beautiful dresses and a lot of different brands. I bought a beautiful malachite brooch here and a little pendant with a greenish shell. On we went to Westend, a 5 minute drive from Klamotte. Westend is a consigment shop. It’s large, definitely not crammed and I bought a few amazing suede handmade shoes from Italy and a fabulous vintage belt there. I thought long and hard about an amazing crafted leather bag but decided to leave it there as I just got spoiled with my 3rd leather Zara tote. I would definitely go back to Westend and, since it’s so close, would give Klamotte

today’s look: silver flats ‘n lots of flowers

Tweet My silver ballerina flats took their first ride together with these floral pants and lace blazer (both H&M). I’m so happy temperatures are rising, spring is long overdue so, although the South of France is waiting for me come June, I’m taking every change I get to wear something colorful or something that says ‘spring’. The metallic clutch is Asos and I’m wearing a chunky silver ring with swarovski crystals.

today’s look: africa goes casual

Tweet Today I’m wearing a casual version of my outfit from yesterday. This vintage Oscar de la Renta jacket is perfect over the African-print top and the dark skinny jeans and Proenza Schouler ballerina flats are so comfortable yet still chique. Have a great weekend!

today’s look: altered africa

(more pictures below) Tweet I love this top with it’s amazing print, I think it was my first piece ever with an awesome African print. I’m totally hooked right now on beautiful African prints and batik prints, so if you don’t like it, you have something coming. All these prints too much for you? Check out tomorrow’s downgraded version of this look, perfect for casual Fridays! The blue and white floral skirt reminds me of the famous Dutch “Delfts blauw” china, it’s perfect. The zebra printed pony hair flats are Warehouse, I’m wearing 3 different leather belts (vintage) and a lot of different bangles (Primark, vintage, I am). The choker necklace is H&M, the statement necklace I made myself.

beauty look: a bit of glamour

Tweet I love most things that glitter, but there’s always a limit. This gold glittery nail polish is gorgeous but there’s no way I’m walking around with gold nails all day for a few days. So I painted my nails with a french manicure polish and just ‘trimmed’ them with a slice of gold. Lovely!

beautiful birthday presents!

I admit: I totally rock at spoiling myself, but how fun it is to be spoiled! And I was spoiled, last week, turning 34. Just to be clear: I absolutely don’t, for one minute, worry about getting older. First of all, turning 34 (thus being still ‘young’) doesn’t give me the right to worry about that, I think. Secondly, there are thousands of women who didn’t get to see this day, so I’m grateful for every day I get. And will remember this when wrinkles and grey hair will come into my life. So, on to the presents! I was lucky to come up with a (small) list at all. I have everything I want, and if I don’t I pretty much make sure I get it. (Ouch, that sounds horrible!) My husband spoiled me with this fabulous black leather

today’s look: black jack

(more pictures below) Tweet You guys didn’t honestly think I was going to walk around in that dress all day, did you? (On my birthday.) We went to Oldenburg, Germany for a city trip, so I changed into this comfortable-chic outfit. The black leather tote (Zara) is a birthday present from my darling husband. I’m wearing my Proenza Schouler ballerina flats, a black skinny jeans, an H&M lace top (look at the detailed photo’s) and a vintage jacket with brooches. The spiked cuffs are Asos, the bracelet Versace x H&M. I had loads of fun wearing this in Oldenburg and will be blogging about the city soon.

today’s look: pretty in pink

(more pictures below) Tweet I do get tired of waiting on spring, but I’ll just have to work around it. This look gives me enough color and ‘spring’ and enough warmth for when the sun is elsewhere. The Zara peeptoe heels are one of my favorite pair of shoes for summer, they’re so chique and versatile. The pink pleated skirt and tights are H&M. The knitted sweater is a vintage one, the bag is a vintage Mulberry bag.

today’s look: it’s my party

(more pictures below) Tweet And I wear what I want to! Today is my 34th birthday so I’m celebrating in all kinds of different ways: cake, presents (I’ll be sharing soon), family, ice cream and… beautiful clothes! This silk vintage dress just took my breath away, the first time I saw it. I must admit, that happens to me a lot when I see something beautiful. #instanthappiness Although I do have quite a few special dresses, this one is not your average party dress. It’s heavy, handmade, colorful, well-tailored, amazing! The weather today doesn’t fully agree with me on this dress, but as I wrote: it’s my party and I’ll wear what I want to. The leather heels are Zara, the clutch is H&M and the necklace is custom made by me. Happy birthday to me! (dress in detail &

today’s look: mixing materials

Tweet Today I’m wearing these leather boots with a pair of skinny jeans, a lace top, a fur vest and a metallic clutch. It looks like I’m having a bit of a casual period, I guess the lack of sunshine and chilly winds are somewhat debet to that. Anyway, I’ll go with it and exploit this flow of casualness.

today’s look: grandma’s skirt

Tweet These leather boots are not ‘my’ average shoe, meaning that, if you look in my closet, the closest in style you will find is leather cowboy boots or studded ballerina flats, studded belts or spiked cuffs. But… I love ‘em! And it’s fun to mix with unexpected items, like a preppy jacket or this romantic skirt. I’m wearing an army-style jacket and a black lace top with it.
