how this stylist packs for a 10 day trip to the Cote d’Azur

(more pictures below) It’s crazy and it’s one of my favorite things: packing the stylist’s way. Here’s how it gets done: (not necessarily in this order) First I pick lots of different items from my wardrobe: dresses, jewelry, shoes. Things I absolutely want to take with me. The rack gets more and more crowded and soon it’s cutting time! I have to decide what goes and what not, one of the hardest parts. (I always pack too much) I start putting looks together from all the items I chose, sometimes going back to my closet to add something. I’m deciding, photographing (so I can decide quickly on what to wear in any situation), and wrapping things together so every look will be packed together. (I totally recommend this, it will save you tons of time on your holiday spot) I

today’s food: for princesses only

(more pictures below) Tweet Ok, princes too… For 2 years in a row now, I’ve had these for my birthday. They taste, smell and feel the way they look: amazing! Thank you, Ikea.

my favorites: chic animal prints

Animal prints can be tacky, wrong or just plain ‘hoochie’. We don’t want that. We want the gorgeous, chic, timeless and iconic animal prints. Here’s a bit of animal print inspiration for you. Combining animal prints does need some attention though, and not all prints are for every body. Make sure not to overdo, and take note: mixing animal prints is for pro’s! Always add a classic or polished item, so your outfit won’t look ‘cheap’.

newest addiction: arm candy

(h&m cuff paired with braided beads and bangle) (more pictures below) Tweet The bigger, the brighter, the ‘bold-er’, the better. I remember when that first started. I must have been six or seven, mixing a crazy coat (thanks, Mom, for letting me have that one) with my grandma’s sunglasses and some crazy makeup and, horror, heels! And that’s not all… I went outside, rode my bike around the block so I could show off my look. That shows you, it’s in my genes and I can’t help it. It didn’t cost much then, and, most times, it still doesn’t cost much. It’s all about you and your style (and being smart) and not about your wallet. These pictures show some H&M accessories paired with dirt cheap vintage or thrift finds.

today’s look: diamonds in the rough

(more pictures below) Tweet Although I always try to be ‘picture perfect’, I’m no stranger to a healthy dose of self mockery. I’m sharing some of my ‘not-so-pretty’ pictures, for a behind-the-scenes peek. And yes, you may laugh… Unexpected visitors, camera malfunctions, balance issues, gravity, the wind (hair!)… When you photograph a lot, like I do, you tend to get quite a few misfits, or are they diamonds in the rough? I think the unexpected, like in my looks, makes for an interesting scenery. You be the judge…

newest addiction (to be): anna dello russo x h&m

I admit: I’m a sucker for bling… Bling-bling that is. And now Anna (Dello Russo) tells me that the sound this bling makes, is a therapeutic sound. Oh dear, I’m afraid I’ll never get over this addiction. Not that I want to. In fact, it drives me crazy knowing that I have to wait for the 4th of October, yep, that’s right, almost 5 more months, until I will be able to get my hands on these fabulous pieces. And fabulous they are! I’ve been glued to the screen, trying to decipher what is on that table, since this will be a secret a little while longer. I usually shop these designer collaborations online, but I might actually camp outside one of the H&M-stores for this one. I think Anna and H&M have done an amazing job together. Until the

beautiful birthday presents!

I admit: I totally rock at spoiling myself, but how fun it is to be spoiled! And I was spoiled, last week, turning 34. Just to be clear: I absolutely don’t, for one minute, worry about getting older. First of all, turning 34 (thus being still ‘young’) doesn’t give me the right to worry about that, I think. Secondly, there are thousands of women who didn’t get to see this day, so I’m grateful for every day I get. And will remember this when wrinkles and grey hair will come into my life. So, on to the presents! I was lucky to come up with a (small) list at all. I have everything I want, and if I don’t I pretty much make sure I get it. (Ouch, that sounds horrible!) My husband spoiled me with this fabulous black leather

today’s look: black jack

(more pictures below) Tweet You guys didn’t honestly think I was going to walk around in that dress all day, did you? (On my birthday.) We went to Oldenburg, Germany for a city trip, so I changed into this comfortable-chic outfit. The black leather tote (Zara) is a birthday present from my darling husband. I’m wearing my Proenza Schouler ballerina flats, a black skinny jeans, an H&M lace top (look at the detailed photo’s) and a vintage jacket with brooches. The spiked cuffs are Asos, the bracelet Versace x H&M. I had loads of fun wearing this in Oldenburg and will be blogging about the city soon.

today’s look: faux fur

Tweet I took a little break the past few days, here’s one of my favorite looks for you. I started with the intricate beaded skirt in a rare green-mustard tone, I’ve paired it with a simple black velvet top, a colored vintage bracelet, amazing Asos heels, a faux fur vest and the one and only vintage black Hermes Kelly bag in box calf leather. I’m totally in love with this look, it’s warm, I can move in it and it shows some guts and creativity.
