today’s look: more marni

(more pictures below) Tweet No one will blame me: you love prints? Well you can’t escape loving Marni. My latest Marni-addition is this fabulous grey knitted sweater with a patent leather front panel. I am totally in love with every detail of it: the proportions and cut, the mixed materials and the colors! It’s totally effortless, too.

today’s look: grandma’s skirt

Tweet These leather boots are not ‘my’ average shoe, meaning that, if you look in my closet, the closest in style you will find is leather cowboy boots or studded ballerina flats, studded belts or spiked cuffs. But… I love ‘em! And it’s fun to mix with unexpected items, like a preppy jacket or this romantic skirt. I’m wearing an army-style jacket and a black lace top with it.

beautiful batik

Tweet I’m totally into batik-prints and fabrics right now. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering I’m all about prints and colors. The different colors and patterns are so beautiful to me, plus the fact that this ancient technique is still around for us, amazes me. Batik is a medium that lies somewhere between art and craft, and is believed to be at least 2000 years old. You can read all about it here. These 3 different fabrics are two scarfs, see here how I’m wearing the reddish one, and one larger piece of fabric which I’m currently using as a tablecloth.

today’s look: in the mix

Tweet I always share how I love mixing prints and fabrics. It can give me the richest feeling. Today I’m wearing my orange cashmere sweater, as it just feels a bit chilly. I love the satin snakeprint vintage blouse with it and chose the studded belt and studded suede shoes. These chunky Marni x H&M necklaces I will save for next time.

today’s look: gorgeous from greece

Tweet This is one of my favorite vintage dresses, from Greece. I love the colors, the fabric, the print and the classic cut. The leather peeptoe heels are Zara, the necklace I custom myself (vintage necklace and vintage butterfly brooch), the red bangle is vintage and the wood and yellow bangle and red patent look clutch are from Steps, a Dutch brand.

today’s look: green love

Tweet For quite some years, green has been my favorite color. I do love about every color there is, but green tops them all. A rich, emerald green piece of clothing, a shiny green scarf or a green suede bag just makes my heart jump, instantly. This green pair of leggings by Versace x H&M just raise the bar a little. Love green x love prints = more to love! This outfit is a perfect layered one for spring, when it gets warm during the day I take the scarf or the jacket off. The dress is H&M, the heels Zara, the leather jacket I bought in a Dutch boutique and the bag is a black leather vintage one I bought in Paris last week.

how to wear: beware matchy-matchy

Tweet We fashion freaks like our looks interesting, tantalizing, absurd even! Ofcourse it’s ok to play it safe when you’re in doubt or just having an off-day. I certainly have my ‘playing-it-safe’-moments. When you feel like taking a chance, keep these notes in mind: * focus on one eye catcher, whether it’s a pop of color, a clash of prints, a lot of accessories, or very special shoes, or… (I could go on here) * make sure you take your hair, makeup and coat into account too (a pixie cut adds a little something different than, say, a wild bob). * finally: it’s often a matter of gut-feeling: only you know what suits you and your personality. Be inspired and have a great weekend!

today’s look: prints galore

Tweet This is the 3rd way I’m wearing this sweater and, I have to say, I like this one the best. A mix of prints and fabrics (silk, snakeskin, wool, suede) like this totally throws me into a frenzy, a very, very happy one. Notes: Ofcourse there is a limit to what you can add. I’ve toned down quite a bit in this look, even though you might not notice it at first sight. The black shoes, tights and clutch create some balance. Printed silk skirt is Versace x H&M, top and wedges are H&M, leather belt and snakeskin clutch are vintage.

today’s look: part prada

Tweet I love this look, it says: I’m ready for business, and tells an interesting story as well. The vintage double breasted Armani jacket is one of my favorites, the cut is simply amazing. I love the paisley-esque print the vintage blouse has and I found just the perfect pair of bangles to go with it. A quick look won’t even tell the bangles apart from the blouse. The fitted pants are Asos, I love the color and they just feel like a dream. A pair of lace socks, black heels and the ever gorgeous Prada bag, and I’m good to go! Een super-outfit, deze, geschikt voor een kantoordag en toch interessant. Het vintage jasje met dubbele rij knopen van Armani is een van mijn favorieten, het is geweldig gesneden; net als de designs van Oscar de la Renta valt

today’s look: marni & moschino

Tweet Today I’m wearing a gorgeous Moschino skirt, paired with a rough leather biker jacket and my suede Marni boots. I’ll try to come up with a look for this skirt with my Moschino belt soon, but the biker jacket got there first. Though this isn’t my typical style, I do have my (more or less) ‘biker’ moments although, as you can see, I always mix in something chic or elegant. The clutch, by the way, is by Asos.
