today’s look: happy go lucky

(more pictures below) Tweet This amazing bright yellow jacket that I wore in Paris in March, was calling me for another round. In the area where I live, during this time of spring, there are bright yellow fields of rapeseed everywhere. That’s one of the top 3 things why I love to live here so much, it makes me feel like I’m the richest and luckiest girl in the world. This jacket makes me very happy as well. I chose to wear a bright blue top with it, and my silver flats, a light skinny jeans and a lot of arm candy and some colorful necklaces, vintage and from India. The snakeprint clutch gives this look just a little edge, I don’t want this to become too matchy-matchy or even clownesque…

today’s look: altered africa

(more pictures below) Tweet I love this top with it’s amazing print, I think it was my first piece ever with an awesome African print. I’m totally hooked right now on beautiful African prints and batik prints, so if you don’t like it, you have something coming. All these prints too much for you? Check out tomorrow’s downgraded version of this look, perfect for casual Fridays! The blue and white floral skirt reminds me of the famous Dutch “Delfts blauw” china, it’s perfect. The zebra printed pony hair flats are Warehouse, I’m wearing 3 different leather belts (vintage) and a lot of different bangles (Primark, vintage, I am). The choker necklace is H&M, the statement necklace I made myself.

today’s party look: black and gold

Tweet After a few weeks of wintersleep, December never has been my most productive month, I’ve pulled myself together to finish the year 2011 with a bang! As the holidays are approaching I’ll be showing you different ways to wear party clothes. Hope you enjoy it! I, for one, never get tired of a good ol’ gold and black-combo. Of course, what makes this look is this fabulous large sequined lace collar. It’s my latest ‘find’ and I absolutely love it. Here, I’ve put it partly under the dress, or else it would be a bit overpowering. The gorgeous little black dress with a pleated back is by Zara as is the bag, the ring is H&M and the heels are Nelly.

today’s look: tiny bows and flowers

Tweet I’m feeling a bit gypsy-like today. Since my neon yellow leather bag hasn’t arrived yet, I’ve deferred to using this lovely tiny leather Mulberry one. I’ve paired the vintage skirt with a cute top with tiny bows from H&M. A beaded statement necklace adds to the circus/gypsy-feel this outfit has.

today’s look: so chanel

Tweet I love this cute vintage dress, which I bought on Etsy.com. I’m wearing it with a sheer grey vintage blouse, the color is perfect and I need some sleeves, it’s autumn after all. Ofcourse I’m wearing the vintage mesh purse with this dress. I love the cream snakeskin print heels, they bring more of the 60s feel and I even got a chance to wear my snow-owl headpiece. The whole look just whispers ‘Chanel’ to me.

today’s look: beads ‘n bows

Tweet Today I’m wearing a statement necklace I’ve been looking to use for a long time. I’m not a very pink or purple girl so it took me a while to find something that I love and goes with the necklace as well. This vintage striped jacket is perfect, very nicely tailored, stylish, I can very well work this jacket. I took this gorgeous semi transparant white bow blouse (the bow I leave untied), my black sequined leggings, lace socks, Asos heels and a lovely leather vintage purse.

how to wear: chunky accessories

(click pictures for larger view) Tweet I think accessories are a great tool to show the world who you are. Oftentimes accessories are like art to me and, used wisely, they can elevate the most simple look and transform it into a marvelous masterpiece. A few pointers: * on repeat here: don’t overdo! You don’t want to be compared to a Christams tree. * look for a bit of contrast. A chunky ring or necklace with a romantic dress, a leather bag or cuff with a lace skirt, you get it. * make sure everything (including you!) gets the attention it deserves. Sometimes accessories can build up (as seen on the second picture) but often enough really is enough. * one way to build a look around your accessories is to start by picking a piece you’d really like to

today’s fashion week look: handcuffed

Tweet I’ve been looking for an outfit with this giant cuff. Honestly, sometimes it all starts with one accessory. I’ve kept this look quite simple as I want most of the attention on this cuff. The gorgeous yellow blouse (vintage) goes very well with the black pleated skirt (vintage). The jacket by Drykorn adds a perfect dose of ‘London cool’, if you ask me. And the heels? What can I say? They’re bold, gorgeous and even a bit futuristic.

today’s fashion week look: it’s a bird’s nest

Tweet This look got chosen Look of the Day by FabSugar.com on September 12! Today I’m wearing a vintage dress. I love the colors and the print. The black velvet belt is perfect, small and dark, it doesn’t take away from the attention for the dress. I thought it was time to look for a hairpiece a bit more bold, hence the bird. I’m loving my new pet (which I made myself). The bag is my 2nd most priced posession (my white Hermes Kelly bag is number 1), a super soft lambskin Chanel bag. It’s so soft I cannot believe it. Furthermore I’ve paired three different necklaces into one huge statement piece, as you can see on the 3rd picture. My shoes are Asos and are totally fashion week-worthy, which means I would definately need flats for in between fashion

today’s look: rose petals

Tweet I love to spice up this Laura Ashley dress. Left alone, the colors of this dress are amazing, the softness, I can almost smell the French country side. As I’m not the typical Laura Ashley gal, I had to add something rough, something bold, to spice things up. I love how this look turned out, yesterday’s blog post about statement necklaces inspired me to kick it up a notch and add two statement pieces today. Though I absolutely love the outfit with chunky boots with high heels the most, I think I’ll take the cowboy boots to go shopping later. What do you think?

how to wear a big tote

Tweet I’m showing you different ways to wear a big tote/bag. Besides practical (you can carry everything around if you want to), a tote or large bag can also make a statement as well as add balance to a look. As you can see in the pictures I mostly use my Zara leather tote to add some polish to an otherwise structured dress or a bold print. The other way around works too, adding a pleated bag or one with a print like my Louis Vuitton sac plat, to an even-colored or silk smooth jumpsuit.

how to wear: a statement necklace

Statement necklaces can cause a bit of doubt: isn’t this too much? Won’t I look like a Christmas tree? The fact of the matter is that it’s rather easy to wear a statement necklace in different ways, and that’s good news as life isn’t always a fancy party or a warm, sunny day. Check out these looks for some new inspiration. Things to keep in mind: -don’t overdo! A big chunky necklace and bold earrings hardly ever go together. -prints are for pro’s. Be careful when you mix a bold or busy print with a statement necklace. -a statement necklace can elevate your look and make it more interesting.

today’s look: so zebra

Today I’m wearing one of my favorite maxi dresses with a sequined vest, zebra ballerina flats and a chunky necklace which adds a tribal accent to this outfit. This has been one of my favorite summer looks since last summer, I love how the dress drapes on the floor, it’s almost a little train this way.
